FAMILY HEALTH AWARENESS CAMP, DELHI
DESI has been partnering with various Dt Administrations in several States in promoting multi-sector awareness specially health and drug awareness. Family Health Awareness Programmes were taken up in the Slums of Delhi and NCR resettlement colonies which covered specially migrants from several States. Several MBBS and Homeo doctors were fielded in these camps to screen and treat patients. Serious cases of T.B., STD, DRUG ADDICTION were referred to Dt Hospitals. DESI also distributed condoms to the high risk groups, opening condom outlets in these areas. FAMILY HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPS (4 to 15 days) covered 23,005 persons mostly women (25% minorities) through 34 days of camps DESI participated in Stree Shakti One-Window Programmes in Delhi. DESI managed One Stall for 3 programmes (GTB hospital, Nand Nagri & Seelampur areas which have sizable Minority Populations. Govt. officers and Local MLA for Seelampur appreciated our inputs. BLOOD DONATION CAMPS (14 days) were conducted at Safdarjung Hospital Premises, New Delhi (81 bags of blood were donated and 601 registrations completed). Doordarshan telecasted these camps. ADVOCACY: DESI submitted position paper on flesh trade on request from Social Welfare Dept., Delhi & submitted to GOI, Dept. of WCD) We have advocated humane policy measures rather than punitive measures. We identified new mini-brothels in Seemapuri-U.P. border which exploited immigrants from Bangladesh (95% minority women)
